DIY Tattered Shorts
I have a couple of things listed in my things-to-do-on-sembreak list but turning my old jeans to tattered shorts was not on it. Maybe boredom has really gotten into me or its just me, being my frugal self that I don’t want to look for shorts around the mall and spend a dime on it.
I’ve has these jeans for 6 years and I haven’t worn them since I was in 1st year college. It’s been lying around my closet for ages and I happen to place them inside the ukay-ukay box yesterday after cleaning my room. I just took them out and got my Mom’s sewing kit and did this. Don’t worry, I’ll be doing a tutorial.

First, you’ll need a couple of pictures of how you want your shorts to look like..

Next, you’ll need your jeans (of course). Marker, scissors, needle and tweezers.

Mark them on how long you want them to be (put allowance)

Cut one side of it first, then the other.

It would look like this. Repeat with the other side..

It would look like this

I didn’t care if it was neatly cut or not since I will intentionally fold them
Now, how to tatter them.. this is where you’ll need the needle and tweezers.

Again, mark on how you want your tattered part to measure

Fold so that it’s easy to cut.

There..

Invert your shorts

Take your needle (BE CAREFUL)

Then di-stitch them like this..

Continue til it looks like this..

Then take your tweezers

Then take off the blue stitches

See?

Continue til it looks like this
Then re-invert your jeans and voila! There you have it!
For those who are having a hard time with the tattering part, here’s a video from YouTube:
So that’s about it. Hoping to do more DIYs soon.
