August (UD): Greatness in Achieving Perfection

Aout, as we say in French, has to be the most dramatic month of my year. In a span of thirty-one days, experiences and realizations made a big impact and eye-opener to my everyday existence. Yet, despite all the commotions and the struggles and the arguments that occurred, life has, once again, never failed to teach me well.

1. Tyra Banks gives inspiring messages on ANTM

August is filled with lots and lots of school holiday which gives me the liberty to roll up to bed and eat, watch TV, eat, unlimited internet and so on. Upon watching the current cycle, Tyra stated that we are all made for greatness. It felt inspiring now that in my current state, I’m battling with academics and it’s a do or die process for graduation.

2. BEEF actually taste good

Yes, I don’t eat BEEF! It’s something in the maternal side of the family that has been passed on that we don’t eat beef at all. Now that I have a boyfriend who is busy with his feasibility study which involves selling BEEF rice toppings in school, I was able to try one and it’s not so bad. I might just give in to that family routine.

3. Let people learn from their mistake

The way I love people involves a little bit of protectiveness which sometimes goes overboard. But I’ve come to realize that defending them from experiencing pain would really help unless if they actually experience it themselves. In my group of friends, I think I’m the MOST experienced one and as far as I’ve tried giving them advice, it doesn’t help. They don’t listen unless they actually tried it. So be it. It’s better to let them learn; they might actually say: I should have listened to you.

4. Getting a B- is a point away

Midterm just passed and I’m so frustrated with my grades. How can 1% ruin my grades! Out of four subjects, I’ve seen two of my grades and I both got a C but with only a point away to get a B-. It sucks! Tell me about it!

5. YouTube has great hair and make-up tutorials

I actually did my hair and make-up for our IS General Assembly. Try it! You can save your cash and avoid getting an appointment at the salon.

6. Do what your Coach tells you

I learned my lesson, that’s for sure! I feel so heavy because I’ve been unconsciously drinking softdrinks when I was told to avoid it.

7. Your FAMILY is the one thing that you can count on

As quoted in The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants: Family is the most precious, lose them and that’s when you are truly alone.

8. Don’t lose the friends that have always stick beside you

The friends that would still take care of you no matter what state you are in? Yes, don’t lose them.

9. The people whom you though would support you, sometimes doesn’t

I really feel disappointed when this happens especially when you really need support and understanding. With the things I’m busy juggling with, it’s really a need that people around you would give support but sometimes it’s the other way around. They’ll think you have short-comings when in fact, you are trying your best to give them time. It’s just sad.

10. Family-orientation makes a relationship stronger

Basically, it’s been a rough ride on the waves of August but it’s really not that bad once we look on the bright side. Things we learn molds us into a better person and with these realization, it makes life (ala Mastercard ad) PRICELESS.
